Weekend Adoptions -- Sunday May 2nd, 2010
Great news for adoptions this weekend! Arabella the Brown Tabby went on the long journey to PetSmart only to find her home back at the shelter. At PetSmart in Knightdale, black kittens Emily and Eleanor were adopted together into a wonderful Raleigh home. Longhaired Elvis was also adopted as were Jake the Golden Retriever mix, and big Springer Spaniel mix Bandit. Champ was transferred to a Nordic dog rescue. A great adoption day, despite a tire blowout on the PAWS Van on the way home. (Anybody willing to help PAWS purchase a new van for animal transports???)

Charlie, Part Eight -- Wednesday August 12th, 2009
News from JoAnn:
Well, the saga of our boy Charlie continues. As you know Charlie went to his new home. His new mom and dad thought he was the calmest best behaved fella they had ever seen. Lu told me he was somewhat concerned that they were not taking him seriously as to how high strung Charlie can be. Short of swinging from the ceiling Charlie just had a major good time. They had no idea that they would have to stay on top of him to keep him mannerly.
So, what has happened to Charlie? He is HOME with Lu. Lu says he is going to keep that boy, because he really likes him. I've seen them together, and Charlie really likes Lu. There is more to the story. Charlie now has a job and works nightshift. Charlie loves to look for and chase deer. Lu lost about $2000 of his hay crop to deer so he has trained Charlie "to get the deer". He runs them off. Charlie chooses to sleep outside on the covered porch by Lu's bedroom window. Lu says most anytime he wakes up at night and looks out the window Charlie is laying on the porch with his head up patrolling the field.
Our boy Charlie really does have a forever home, and he even has a job!!

Charlie's Going Home! -- Tuesday July 7th, 2009
Well, it looks like our Charlie boy has found a forever home. Lu tells me that Charlie's mom is a nurse and his daddy is a psychiatrist. His new mom is very committed to the running and exercise for Charlie. Lu is gradually weaning Charlie from his home. Lu has been very tempted to keep Charlie as they have formed a special bond, and Lu thinks he is a great dog. However, he just cannot afford to start having his fosters go bad. He doesn't need a lot of personal dogs around when he is training and boarding other dogs. Kinda not good for business.
Thanks to all of you that have contributed to Charlie's future. It has paid off. Stephanie, you saw something in that boy that was buried deep inside. He is a happy well behaved young fella now. Charlie is still very headstrong and must be kept under control, but he is loving life and loving all his new friends, big and small.

Frost has a home! -- Thursday June 18th, 2009
Wonderful news for all who were concerned about Frost. After many weeks in the shelter, Frost has gone to a wonderful home. At last report, Frost would have nothing to do with her quiet room away from all the other resident cats and dogs. She was defying expectations by being completely relaxed in her new surroundings. Frost was adopted by Jackie Britt after going on Julie Dilday's Facebook page for just a few hours!

A Great Adoption Fair! -- Tuesday April 21st, 2009
Great news from the April Adoption Fair at ACE Hardware! Otto was adopted to a wonderful home where he will live on a farm with dogs, cats, and horses. Two puppies were adopted, one kitten, and later in the day, Scout, the little dog from the Portsmouth SPCA. Elizabeth and Hennie made $160 from the Bake Sale and donation jar for their PAW PRINTS Second Chance Fund. The dogs and the humans (not so much the cats!) all had a great day at ACE enjoying each other and the sunshine.
