Our appreciation to all friends and supporters who voted for PAWS. Welcome to the official website of PAWS of Hertford County, North Carolina. Our initials PAWS stand for "Protecting Animals Worth Saving". We are a small non-profit group of volunteers who have dedicated ourselves to improving the state of animal welfare in Hertford County. Each year in North Carolina, thousands of companion animals arrive in animal shelters. Sadly, many of them never have the second chance they deserve. We think these animals deserve better and are working with Animal Control to increase the numbers of adoptions from our municipal shelter. PAWS Dog "Newbie", now known as "Frank", adopted in 2009.
