| The Adoption Procedure |
To adopt an animal from the Hertford County Animal Shelter please visit the shelter on Saturdays between 9 am and noon or call (252) 358-7861 on weekdays for an appointment. The adoption process includes:
* PAWS of Hertford County reserves the right to decline any potential adopter based on established criteria, the interview with the adopter, observations or knowledge of the adopter, or a review of the formal Adoption Application and Contract. |

Please click here for the fill in by computer version. You must still print this two page form or save and email as an attachment to PAWS. There is no on-line submission at this point. |

| Spay and Neuter Policy | PAWS stresses the importance of spaying and neutering to reduce unwanted births, to stop animal overpopulation and to protect the health and safety of the public. PAWS requires that all pets adopted from us must be spayed or neutered or the animal will be reclaimed. | |
