To adopt an animal from the Hertford County Animal Shelter please visit the shelter on Saturdays between 9am - noon or call (252) 358-7861 weekdays for an appointment.  The adoption process includes: 1) filling out an Adoption Application and Contract (below), 2) the adoption fee for cats or dogs who are already spayed or neutered is $60.  For animals who have not yet been spayed or neutered, the fee is $35.  You will receive a voucher worth $60 towards the cost of spaying and neutering.  Vouchers can be used at local veterinarians' offices and are also honored by many vets outside the area. This special rate applies to adoptions at the Shelter. The fee may be higher at other adoption events.  3) your photo ID, and 4) an adoption screening to make sure that the match is a good fit for both your family and the pet.
