Animal Success Stories

PAWS of Hertford County has adopted out or placed more than 4000 animals since August 2006.  Our animals are in good homes all over northeastern North Carolina, west to Raleigh, southeast to New Bern, and as far north as Virginia, Maryland and even New Jersey. We are thrilled to receive updates and pictures from the families of these wonderful cats and dogs.  If you would like your new PAWS family member to be posted on our website, please send to pawsofhertfordcounty@yahoo.com.

Mikey
Mikey

"Mikey Boy has really adopted us. He is such a great cat, he is the King of our house. Our kids absolutely adore him and he takes turns sleeping with them at night. As you can see, he is spoiled rotton! Thank you for such a wonderful cat."

"Hello! I'm writing to say Thank You for contacting NRGRR regarding Maddie and especially to the volunteer who drove Maddie half-way so that Henry could pick her up & deliver her to us. We had agreed to Foster Maddie upon her arrival to Raleigh. Well, in less than 24 hours, we informed Jen Webster that she was no longer available for adoption since we couldn't fathom the idea of losing her. We adopted Patrick from NRGRR in March and he instantaneously let us know that this was his new best friend and the 2 have been inseparable ever since she arrived! They are adorable together since they are about the same size, age, weight and color -- actually, we get them mixed up when they are tumbling around together. Here's a picture of Maddie & Patrick, Maddie is on the left. THANKS so much to everyone involved in your wonderful organization. You are making a huge difference and have forever changed our lives for the better here in Raleigh. Wishing you continued success in placements," Meribeth Howlett

Millie and Waffles
Millie and Waffles

Ashley Holloman writes: "a few months after adopting waffles, kirk and i wanted to adopt another pet. we went back to paws and found millie. she was so spunky and energetic she made us laugh. we had to get her. we brought her home and she fit in perfectly. we were told waffles disliked dogs (because she lost half of her tail to one) but as millie was laying down to take a nap waffles got curious and they ended up napping together the whole day! she is still just as hyper as ever but now that its cooler out she enjoys playing outside. she has even more fun now that she has her doggy friend, mindy! i will send pictures of mindy when i take some more. ive never seen two dogs get so close in such a short amount of time! so far all of our adoptions have been a bigger success than we planned. thank you!"

"This is Madelyn Gambrell aka Maddie G. I adopted Maddie G on Nov. 15, 2008 from PAWS. Maddie is now 5 months old and the happiest puppy! I included a few pictures of Maddie from her first christmas. Thanks so much!" Heather O. Jeffreys

Muffin, now Marley
Muffin, now Marley

Muffin, now known as Marley, was adopted to be a best friend for Bailey, another North Carolina shelter dog. Both boys are now happy in their Washington, D.C. home. Their owner writes: "Here they are together! Thank you again for allowing us to adopt Muffin. Bailey and Marley are now best friends for life!" Kari Bahl Gallaudet University
